Just add this WordPress Code Snippet to the functions.php file in your current WordPress theme in order to add custom widget areas to your StudioPress Genesis Framework theme.
/** * Register Custom Widget area in a StudioPress Genesis Theme * * @author WPSnacks.com * @link https://www.wpsnacks.com */ genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'widget_area_id', 'name' => __( 'Widget Area Name', 'some_name_here' ), 'description' => __( 'Widget Area Description Here', 'some_name_here' ), ) );
Then just replace widget_area_id with the id you want to give the widget area. Replace Widget Area Name with the display name for the widget area. Replace some_name_here with a unique identifying name, for example for my custom widget areas here on WPSnacks, I used wpsnacks to replace some_name_here. And of course replace Widget Area Description Here with a description of your widget area that will be displayed in the WordPress Widget Admin area to help keep things organized.
