How to turn off pingbacks and trackbacks for your WordPress website without a plugin

If you are using a WordPress website you may have pingbacks and trackbacks listed on your comments page. If you view the information on WordPress.org about trackbacks and pingbacks it details that trackbacks and pingbacks are methods for alerting blogs that you have linked to them on there.

You can turn off pingbacks and trackbacks on your WordPress website without using a plugin on there

  1. From the wordpress admin left menu you can click on settings > discussion
  2. From the discussion settings page the top of the page has a few boxes you can click on
  3. You can click on the box that lists allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles
  4. You can then click on the save button at the bottom of the discussion settings page

If that works for you it would then turn off pingbacks and trackbacks for your WordPress website on there.
